Resin Shenanigans : 10 years of resin shenanigans

Today my DOA membership turns 10 years old and what a decade it has been. I've had so many interests over the years, but this is the first hobby that I actively stuck with. Looking back on this 10 years, I grew from a teenager into the late 20s adult I am today. My experiences and attitude towards the hobby matured as I did. There were periods of hiatuses, impulse buying, mistakes, regrets, and most importantly there was a lot of joy. When you're involved in a hobby that long, you see the good and bad of it, but most importantly the evolution of it.

My username is Pinkbear, which at the time was one of my favorite stationary characters from a Korean stationary store and also something my 18 year old self definitely chose!

As I reflect on all the dolls I've purchased and sold, the friends I've made, and and the BJD owner that I am today, I've changed so much and yet there are parts of me that are still that 18 year old girl who searched for Chobbits cosplay ears and ended up finding the picture of Volks Toppi MSD and was enamored by her.

I sure jumped into one heck of a rabbit hole!

A narrative post on my experiences and thoughts of a decade old hobbyist wouldn't be that interesting and I think you can learn a lot about a BJD owner by the dolls they have, the characters they develop and so forth.

In the 10 years, I graduated high school, college, had a few part time job and got my 1st full time job. Interestingly, my highest increase in reselling dolls occurred when I did not have a steady job, but while working full time, the last few years, my collection grew much more slower; or steadily, like today I spend months to a year planning my next doll, but I didn't do that 8 years ago. I was much more impulsive.

I kept pretty good records of every doll I owned and sold and have pictures of almost all of them.
I could almost say that I've owned a doll from every major doll company!

I'm missing a few photos of some dolls, but I surmised that the more photos I have of a doll, let alone ones I have saved indicate my level of bonding and enjoyment with that doll.
